Basketball Days

I started playing basketball after I completed my secondary school. My friends introduce me to the sport. I have no prior experience with the game. I did not have any interest in the sport, but I did enjoy being with my friends.

Basketball is a highly competitive game. A very physical game and the players can get rough quickly. We were quite tall for our age and had good advantage over others. We often played at neighborhood basketball courts and looking to challenge others. That was how we formed our team. We played almost every other day. The adrenaline rush in the game was addictive.

Though I was a poor player, they needed the numbers. Everything was OJT. I could never do a layout properly and that was why I was just playing as a shooter. I didn't have any fancy skills, so I keep practicing shooting. My team was motivated to win every other people in the neighborhood. I did not want to disappoint them, so I tried to perfect basketball shooting.

I still remembered that my first pair of basketball shoes was a gift from my mother. It was a beautiful pair of blue Jordan 14. It was crazy expensive. I did not know that the shoes were meant to keep as a collection. People were shocked that I wore them to play outdoors. The shoes were designed to be used indoors but it was too late. I didn't know and care. The shoes lasted me for quite long since the wear and tear for a shooter was so little.

Michael Jordan was the best basketball player I have even known. I only got to watch snippets of him playing the game. He was legendary. Nobody played like him. Here's a video of MJ playing the NBA Finals 1998. Fantastic game.

Over the years that we played I grew to like basketball. Though my skills never got better, my stamina and health improved. It was a team sport that bonded everyone. The friendship grew stronger by the days we played together. I really missed those days.
