Flaw in Phone System

Interesting video explaining and demonstrating how insecure the current phone system SS7 was. The metadata of your phone specifications can be easily obtained from the network commands. Phone calls and SMSes can be intercept by hackers. It means that there is no privacy on the telephone system.

I also learnt that 4G and 5G networks are safer as they are not based on SS7. We are lucky that 2G and 3G networks are already no longer in use in our country. However SS7 is still the backbone connectivity between different countries. SMS for 2FA should not be used as it can be easy be intercepted by malicious hacker to gain access to your important services such as banking, government, etc.
